Let’s put ourselves in Luke’s shoes for a moment.

All you can remember are the last 7 years of your life. Things have been fine; aside from having headaches and the occasional voices. However, suddenly this girl comes along and both of you end up being warped to the other side of the world. It’s your first time out of the castle since losing your memories. Things are great; except now you are actually having to learn things and realizing how much you don’t know about the world… despite these things being common knowledge to most people. You also are suddenly having to fight and kill in order to survive.

You can only remember the last seven years of your life. You are basically a 7 year old mentally stuck in the physical body of a 16 year old, and you are being forced to grow up FAST; all things considered. The people who are traveling with you, some of which blackmailed you since you have royal connections, act condescending towards you when you don’t understand something. They get mad at you for your temper tantrums… but hey, you are just acting out like a child would do. You are trying your best to learn though, and the girl who caused the problems in the beginning starts trying to be nicer to you… so hey! Maybe things will start turning around. Except…

You get a headache, and start being mind controlled along with hearing voices again. Your Master, who is basically the only one who seems to pay any actual attention to you, manages to calm you down and let’s you know that “Well you are special, and people want to use you as a weapon for war which is why you were locked away in the castle for the last 7 years. Also you’ll always be locked away somewhere unless you can become a HERO.” OH HEY, people have been lying to you your whole life (or at least the last 7 years that you can remember). You don’t want to be locked away your whole life, so you start focusing your thoughts on this hero business.

After a long and mind-screwing adventure, you are finally back home! If you get an audience with your uncle you will be free… Another good thing about being home is that you don’t have to kill people anymore! Hooray! So you get your audience (rather forcefully), and things seem to be going smooth… EXCEPT NOT! You are now being sent off somewhere as an ambassador for your uncle’s country! You have no say about it though because:

1. It’s written in the score! And you can’t go against the score. The score foretells the future after all.
2. Your uncle has arrested your Master, and unless you go, your Master will continue to be imprisoned, and potentially executed. You can’t let that happen though! He’s the only one who has ever paid any real attention to you!

So you go, but beforehand, you visit your Master. He lets you in on another bombshell… He was the one who kidnapped you 7 years ago, and he wants to kidnap you again; so to speak. He needs you for something, and then you realize… No one has really “needed” you before… and now, someone is actually letting you know that you mean something, that you have value, and you can actually do something! However, if you follow your Master’s plans, you will have to leave your friends and family behind… but that’s a sacrifice you are willing to make because someone actually needs you. Your Master tells you to not tell his plans to anyone. You don’t question it though, because your Master would never do anything bad. 

You become disappointed when you find out that you won’t be traveling with him in the beginning though. You wanted to travel with your Master because you don’t want to disappoint someone who actually cares about you. However, the two of you go your separate ways (him by ship, you by land), and you head for a creepy run-down factory with the companions you’ve been traveling with all along; except you also pick up your arranged marriage girlfriend, as she refuses to be left behind. Yet again, you are blackmailed, though this time into taking your potential future wife with you because she overheard your conversation with your Master and she will tell everyone that you are planning on running away with him after this mission.

You get out of the factory, only to be face-to-face with someone WHO LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE YOU. You shrug it off as being really creepy as your companions change the subject about needing to go save someone. You get to the next rest stop, only for you to get another headache, and this time you hear voices again… but not just any voice, it’s the voice of the person who looks just like you. He informs you of where to find him and the person who you need to save. So you follow those words and go there.

Once there, you try to confront your look-a-like again… only for both of you to be perfectly synchronized in your attacks because HE FIGHTS IN THE SAME STYLE AS YOU. There are questions on your mind, but the concern of saving the other person is greater, so you are left with no option to speak really. You leave, only to get mind-controlled YET AGAIN by this look-a-like in the next city… only this time he brandishes more authority and makes you almost attack your companions. 

What is going on? Who are you really? If only you knew and had these answers… after all, it is your body, it is your life… why are such weird things going on, and who is that mysterious look-a-like? Are you who you’ve been led to believe? It’s not like asking any of your companions will help. They obviously know the truth, but they refuse to tell you… As “you have to figure it out for yourself”.

You travel further, questions still laying heavily on your mind, and then you encounter someone who refers to you as a “reject”. Why are you a reject? One of your companions, who has been mocking you the most during your travels, steps up and starts talking about some kind of forbidden technology… BUT OOPS, the boy you saved makes a comment about how “there are things that people are better off not knowing!” 

Everyone apparently knows something about you. What is it? You can’t remember anything prior to 7 years ago. Was there something in your past? WHAT IS IT? You try asking, but everyone ignores you… What’s the point in asking anymore. No one is willing to give you any answers.

You start shutting yourself off from the others. No one cares for you… if they did, they would help you, and tell you what they know about you. You’ve been called rude for how you treated them along this mountain travel pass… but what does it matter? They don’t care for you, so you don’t need to care about them.

The only person you need to care about is your Master, because he actually needs you.

He’s the only person who has ever mentioned that they needed you.

You better hurry, as your self-value relies on your Master, and you better not keep his plans waiting any longer. He’s the only one you can trust.
